I don’t wear a red lip often, but when I do find the perfect gorgeous shade I have to have it. And it’s usually Chanel. This one is new from the Fall 2020 collection, a very deep rich velvet with no orangey tones. It has just the tiniest hint of pink which ties in beautifully with the rest of the collection, a reimagining of pink as the new red.

A deep soft matte red hearkens back to old Hollywood, an era that I’ve always drawn a lot of inspiration from. In modern terms, it’s a mood:). Nothing can instantly make you feel more polished and feminine than a well executed red lip. The rest of your makeup has to be tailored to the lip when you are going bold, and my number one tip is to make sure your complexion is absolutely perfected. Any redness or imperfections in the skin tend to be amplified by red. So I tend to go a little extra with the concealer foundation and even a touch more powder to keep everything in place. Another thing I absolutely love about this formula is that it’s a one step, as opposed to many red lips that require liner and maybe need a gloss. This liquid stays in place and I only did one thorough coat here, though you are able to add on to intensify the color.

I also found two more products that I loved from the same collection, an eye liner and a rose balm that can be used on the cheeks. Initially I hadn’t planned to use them all together, but I ended up creating this look with the trio and just applied them in a way that fit my aesthetic and love of soft glowy makeup. I used the rosy eye liner just on my lower lash line, going about two thirds of the way in. I used the rose balm on the top of the apple of the cheek and pulled it out a bit to highlight the cheekbone. The balm is just stunning, and gives a youthful dewy glow that will be ideal for glowing up dry winter skin. It is very pretty on the lips as well.

I could see this being such a pretty moment for holiday photos or soirees, and an added bonus is that this lip stays on through wearing the mask for hours and taking it on and off. I know we are all so looking forward to a joyful winter and holiday season. Cheers!
