Even after 37 summers in the south, the heat and humidity still take my breath away come early June each year. My fair skin and light eyes aren’t made for the sun, so over many years(and quite a few sunburns) I have perfected a routine for safely enjoying my beloved ocean swims and boat days. Here in Florida, we spend so much time in swimsuits that I always wanted to have a makeup look to feel put together on long steamy days. Sun protection has come a long way since the eighties and nineties when I was growing up, and thankfully it has become a little cooler(hopefully!)to protect your skin. Plus, there is always La Mer gradual tan to give you a perfect sun-kissed glow, sans photoaging!
I start by applying Dr. Barbara Sturm sun drops directly on to clean skin. I skip all other moisturizers and treatment(this is honestly the only time I do this) because I just can’t stand to have too many things on in heat and humidity and I want this sun protective skincare to have every chance to bond to the skin and stay put. The sundrops also include skin nourishing ingredients vitamin E and beta-glucan for protection and regeneration and they give the skin a beautiful glow all on their own! They also are a great primer for foundation, which is very rare for a sunscreen product.
After letting the sundrops settle in for a few minutes, I begin makeup. For this golden peachy look, I used Cle De Peau concealer under the eyes, Georgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation, Nars blush in Orgasm, Chanel longwear cream shadow in Scintillance on the lid and blended up, Chanel waterproof eye liner in brun agape on the top lash line and outer third of the bottom lash line, Chanel le volume waterproof mascara in noir, Chantecaille brow gel in light, and Chantecaille lip gloss in Pretty . As always, I have my trusty Chanel ultra wear powder compact with me, which not only gives coverage and mattifies the skin when needed but also has an spf of 15. Obviously, there is no such thing as too much spf in my opinion;). Then I find the shadiest spot and the coldest drink and am ready to relax!
